Aikido – The Way of Harmonizing Energy

JCCC AKIKAI

Aikido, often translated as “the Way of Spiritual Harmony,” is known as an ‘Art of Peace’. It is a martial art that emphasizes blending one’s own movement with that of an opponent to unbalance and subdue the challenger. When using Aikido properly, violent aggression can be neutralized swiftly and cleanly without injury.

The JCCC Aikikai is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1967 to promote the practice and teaching of traditional aikido in Toronto. The JCCC Aikikai aims to celebrate the spirit of Japanese heritage and culture by offering a traditional program geared to all ages of any skill level, all while maintaining high technical standards and a positive attitude. The practice of aikido requires a partner and the training of both partners is equally important. Accordingly, the motto of the club is Jitta Ittai, which means “helping each other learn”.
